Hemorrhoids are swollen veins in the lowest part of your rectum and anus.Commonly referred to as piles.
They are formed when walls of these blood vessels stretch so thin that the veins bulge and get irritated, especially when you Excrete.
Hemorrhoids are one of the most common causes of rectal bleeding.
There are generally two types of Hemorrhoids
Internal Hemorrhoids (originating in the rectum) : Internal hemorrhoids are far enough inside the rectum that you can't usually see or feel them.
External ( originating in the anus) : they are located underneath the skin that surrounds the anus, and are lower than internal hemorrhoids.
Causes of Hemorrhoids
An accumulation of pressure in the lower rectum can affect blood flow and cause the veins to swell. This can occur from extra weight when you are obese or pregnant.
Hemorrhoids can also be caused by Standing or sitting for long periods, chronic diarrhea, eating a low-fiber diet, coughing and vomiting.
Physically challenges, like lifting something heavy and Pushing during bowel movements are known causes of Hemorrhoids.
Treatment of Hemorrhoids
Patients diagnosed with hemorrhoids are advised to soften their stools by increasing the amount fiber in their diets. Fruits, vegetables, cereals and grains are rich in fiber.
