Good evening. Right now are you trying to conceive? A pharmacy should not be treating you and usually you need to be investigated first before treatment. The best person to consult is the Gynaecologist.

Hello. The likely problem is hormonal imbalance. That is the reason you need to see a gynaecologist for evaluation and then proper management.

OK,Is it likely to be the hormonal imbalance that is causing the brown period too and do u have idea if the symptoms am seeing is not been affected by my womb or tube or any other reproductive organ, can u please expatiate more on this.
    Dr. Amen O answered:

Hello. The imbalance is causing your menstrual irregularity and milk production. It is not likely to be a problem from your Uterus but if it's not properly managed, this could mean inability to conceive.

Hello. Most teaching hospitals and general hospitals have Gynaecologist. You will need blood work up to test hormonal levels which cannot be carried out by you.

Good evening. Pregnancy can not be predicted but your chances are high when you have unprotected sex during your fertile period. So start trying immediately if that is your wish.

Good morning. It may be a recent of the act itself or remnant of your period. Since it is a one time occurrence, you shouldn't worry.

Hello. Do you feel pain during sex? Your mind needs to be healed also because after an abortion if surgical especially, you may still feel as though you have remnants which may not be so.

The only time I feel pain during sex is the first day I got to my boyfriend place which is about three weeks ago and d pain is like his penis tourches something inside me and pain in my lower abdomen and my anus, and that is exactly the pain I experienced on d day I did d abortion because I was feeling pile before I went for the d&c. And one more thing doctor do you think Infection could be the cause of the brown period and lactation.
    Dr. Amen O answered:
Good afternoon. An untreated infection of the pelvis can cause such pain. Hormonal imbalance is often responsible for milk production. You should consult a Gynaecologist as advised earlier.

Sorry about all these. I will like to get some things clearly. Is the lactation after you did the d and c? Did you do a scan after the d and C to confirm if it was complete? Any abdominal pain? Are you trying to conceive now?

I dnt do scan, I noticed d lactation afternoon the d&c, the only pain I noticed is that I had pain from my lower abdomen to my anus, and also I had my first sex after d abortion in November and I had some kind of sore in my vagina which gone after some days, and Right now am not trying to conceive but I will be glad if I become pregnant now although my partner does not release in me and av been having unprotected sex.
    Dr. Idris Q answered:

Okay. From your explanation it was obvious that you have been having a regular cycle which is a good thing except for the time you saw it for 2 days which I don't see as a problem. You see the colour of your menses might vary from time to time, this from my experience doesn't portend any danger. So I want you to relax and bother less about it. You can also do a pelvic scan to assess the status of your uterus and the surrounding organs. Lactating when you are not pregnant or breastfeeding is what we call Galactorrhea. It happens if a hormone called Prolactin is elevated in your blood. You need to do a test to know the level of this hormone in your body. If it is elevated, you will see a gynaecologist who will place you on some medications to bring the level back to normal. Hope it's clear?

    Dr. Idris Q answered:

Good evening, Everything in the scan appears normal. He was considering pregnancy due to one of his findings. You can do the pregnancy test has he directed in 3 days time but I doubt if you are pregnant. Going with the scan your reproductive organ is fine. You need not to worry. Take care

Thank you doctor .If that is the case, what could now be d reason for brown period since September last year and why is it scanty? Moreover, If I do the test and it comes out negative then what could be the cause of the sign he saw.Hope the sign he saw is not a retained product of the abortion.
    Dr. Idris Q answered:
It's obvious from your questions that you are anxious about the outcome of the d and c that you did about a year ago. You see one year is a long time and if there is anything left in your uterus after the d and c it could have been infected or you would be bleeding profusely to the point of going into shock. In essence, you won't be chatting with me now because you would be very sick. The colour of your menstrum is determined by the content of your uterus at during each cycle, dark or light, I don't think there is anything wrong with that. If you are not pregnant, then probably the thickness might be because you in the proliferative phase of your menstrual cycle. During the proliferative phase, the inner lining of your uterus becomes thickened. This is also a normal occurrence during your menstrual cycle. Is it clear now?

OK doctor. thank you so much.Yes I was really scared,so what do you think I can do to the two days period, and I hope its not what they call asherman syndrome.
    Dr. Idris Q answered:
Asherman syndrome is a possibility because of the d and c but I won't be able to confirm that unless you do a HSG. Hysterosalpingogram. The test is done to outline the inner lining of your uterus and fallopian tube. If there is any blockade as in Asherman syndrome, it will be obvious. Take care

There are various treatment options for Asherman syndrome. I won't be able to discuss that on this platform. It's good to see a gynaecologist for treatment of Asherman syndrome. You should do the hsg maybe that one will also help relief your fear. Take care

Thanks doctor, but had it bn it is, would the bromergon I used in June that brought my complete three days period have worked bcos according to what I read about it,it do hold back period from flowing out and makes irregular and since that last year,I've not missed a cycle without mensuration and my cycle length has never been changed. My period date had never failed.
    Dr. Idris Q answered:
Bromergon has nothing to do with Asherman syndrome. You were given the drug because you were lactating, not to prevent or treat Asherman's.

OK,so you mean bromergon has nothing to do with my period in June? and also could it be tarivid that I used that pushed out my period because I also used tarivid.
    Dr. Idris Q answered:
As much as you deserve to know everything about your health, there are some things that will end up causing more confusion for you. Most especially if you read a lot about these things on google. Bromergon as I've said earlier is used to manage the lactation issue. This lactation issue which I've also said earlier that it is caused by high level of Prolactin. This Prolactin can actually make your menses irregular if it is too high in your blood . So bringing down the level of your Prolactin using bromergon returns your menses back to normal and this might explain why you saw it in June after some delays. Tarivid is an antibiotic, and antibiotics are used to treat infection not to make menses 'come out.'
