"Hi doc, gudmorni, I'm 5wks pregnant &dey did malaria test 4 me & discovered dat it's 2+ &I also had severe pain in my lower abdomen &I wz given paracetamol, folic acid & paludrine, right nw I'm feeling vry feverish, my mouth is bitter &I hv serious cough. somebody told me dat dey don't give pregnant women malaria drugs, If so hw will d malaria go.     That's right, we don't just give antimalarials to pregnant women, as we need to be careful of the effect on the baby. You can see your doctor for a decision on which antimalarial will be best for you in your pregnancy.

    Wat abt d paludrine, wat's it 4& wat can I take 4d cough,it's dried cough . I've also bn seeing discharge in my panties, I did vaginal swab &d doc said dey r scanty &dat I can't take any antibiotics right nw, wat can I take &also 4d cough

    Paludrine is a preventive drug for malaria but maybe it wasn't stronf enough to handle your existing malaria. For the cough, any good cough syrup is relatively safe in pregnancy but double check the label to be sure. The doctor is right, if the discharge is not much, there is no need for an antibiotic, best to wait it out.
