Your worry is not out of place.
The hepatitis virus infects only the liver. It is when the condition is poorly managed that other organs can be involved as an extension.
The doctor you met at the private hospital is not wrong as a renal problem can give similar symptom but with other features like painful urination, fever and so on. If the other doctor feels it's not your kidneys, then, let's hope so. Since I can't see or touch you, I will have to accept their diagnoses. The scan you want to do should also show the state of your kidneys. I will suggest you do the scan and see the outcome. You can take analgesic for pain relief.
