Good afternoon, I don't expect it to be infected if it's done under aseptic condition in a hospital. You should also be placed on some antibiotics after the surgery. So the risk of infection should be low or nil. Your flow won't affect it if you maintain a high level of hygiene. Change your pant regularly, change your pad too regularly. You can also wash with clean water whenever you notice any stain. Take care

Please, I have 2 primary concerns about my monthly period: 1. The first two days are VERY painful and full of cramps. Renders me mostly useless for those days. Any attempt at pain relievers increases the already heavy flows almost uncontrollably. 2. The period goes on for 10 days non stop with the first 3-4 days being very heavy. I change sanitary towels about 8 times on each of those days.

Sorry about that. First, I will like to know what you normally take for pain relief. While I wait your answer, I want you to know its unlikely the pain relievers are responsible for the increase in flow. 2. You are having Menorrhagia which can be caused by a number of things; fibroid, hormonal imbalance and contraceptives. Considering your age, fibroid is most likely. I will like you to do a pelvic scan to confirm this. You can show me the result so that I can refer you to the appropriate specialist for proper management.

I asked this question already but no one answered me. Please, I have serious menstrual pain with severely heavy flow. The period also lasts for 10days usually. I have done a pelvic scan and a fibroid check but nothing was found. What may I do, please?

Sorry about that. I'm here to always offer my professional advice on matters similar to this. I will like to know what you do take for pain relief and if you have used any form of contraception before? I will also like to know the age of your last child if you already have one. I can imagine what you are going through and I know how disturbing this can be for you but we have to get it right to solve the matter once and for all. If the pelvic scan you did showed no fibroid, then we have to look further. However I'm still interested in a repeat of the pelvic scan but this time by a different sonologist. You can also see a gynaecologist if you haven't been seeing one for a specialist care.

Thank you very much Dr. Sorry, didn't receive the initial response earlier. I have never used contraceptives, as I haven't had sex before. I also do not have any children yet. The pain relievers I have used are Ibuprofen (& its family), felvin, as well as panadol but I haven't used any in the last 5 months or 6, as I thought it contributed to the severity of flow. As I type this, I am in terrible pain with tears and this is fast becoming a nightmare. As you advised, maybe I will go for yet another (3rd) pelvic scan at another hospital.

So sorry about the pain. For relief, Try this combination Meloxicam tablet, use 1 twice daily after food Paracetamol tablet, use 2 tablets 3 times daily Buscopan tablet, use 2 tablets twice daily Use the 3 at a time, let's see how it goes. Take care
