Good day Doctor. Please I want to find out if Bromergon can delay Menses. My Menses have been delayed three days today and it has never happen to me before. Thanks
    Dr. Idris Q answered:
From experience, delayed menses is not one of the side effects of Bromergon. I want to believe you were diagnosed of hyperprolactinemia earlier by your Doctor before commencing the drug. Hyperprolactinemia itself can cause a delayed menses. Just be patient, a delay of 3 days can still be observed. If it's still the same, do a pregnancy test. Hope it's clear.

yes I was diagnosed of high prolactin level and that was in 2011. I didn't complete the full dosage that was prescribed by the Gynae then because the discharge from my breast stopped so I stopped taking the drugs. Just this year I decided to go for the prolactin test again, I found out that the level is a little bit elevated. i decided to start the drugs again. Please does the drug increase fertility?
    Dr. Idris Q answered:
It's OK. No it does not increase fertility. It only works to reduce the level of prolactin. There are other ways which the drug is put into use none of which has anything to do with fertility. Are you trying to concieve?

Not yet. I just joined my husband where he is two months ago. we don't want pregnancy for now. I am just worried because I can remember that the Gynae then in 2011 warned me not to engage in sex as I was taking the drug that's why I asked plus this delayed menses
    Dr. Idris Q answered:
OK. The advise to refrain from sex while on the drug is in line but it's not because of anything relating to fertility. All the best

so what's your advice as I have not seen my Menses? sorry for my numerous questions pls. Thanks
    Dr. Idris Q answered:
No problem. We wait for like 2 more days and see if it will come. If it doesn't come in 2 days time, a pregnancy test should be done to rule out pregnancy. The result of the pregnancy test will tell us the next step to take. I will be here to answer your questions, feel free to ask.

Good morning, That's a good one. Maybe you should repeat it. Alternatively you can use blood maybe it will be clearer.

thanks for the quick response. should I stop taking the Bromergon? When should I repeat the test?
    Dr. Idris Q answered:
Repeat it as soon as possible. You can discontinue the bromergon for now pending the result of the pregnancy test. If it's negative, continue using it. If it's positive, you can discontinue it. I will also advise you to see your Gynaecologist again for a follow up which might require you doing another prolactin assay. You might need to be taken off the drug but that decision cannot be made here.

Good evening Doctor. I think I have constipation because I have not been able to defecate for two days now. Please could be the cause and remedy? p.s: I take fruits and water
    Dr. Idris Q answered:
Good evening, Constipation is usually related to your diet. It can be caused by some medications but this is rare. Keep taking the fruits and water with orange being more (with the inner flesh). Plenty of vegetables will also help. You will be fine. Take care

Good evening ma, No problem, you can use it. However, I strongly advise you go for a malaria test to be sure it's not malaria. You have to be sure because of you and your unborn child. Take care

thanks so much. where I am they don't test or treat malaria. had lots of mosquito bite before I left Nigeria, wasn't pregnant then. I travelled with coartem 80/480 and I don't know if it's safe for me to take since I am now pregnant. the symptoms I am having looks more like it's malaria
    Dr. Idris Q answered:
The use of coartem in early pregnancy is not encouraged. If you cant find a hospital around to get yourself treated, I will advise you stick to using paracetamol only. If symptoms persist, you still have to help yourself by finding a hospital.

Good morning Doctor. Please which antimalarial is safe for me to take at this early pregnancy stage?
    Dr. Idris Q answered:
Good morning The drug is available only in the hospital and it can only be administered to you by a Doctor. I wont be able to give you the name on this platform. Please it is important you visit a hospital, get tested and treated once and for all. If you couldn't get a hospital as you have said earlier and condition became unbearable, you can use the ACT and paracetamol bearing in mind that you had no other option but know that you are taking a risk. Take care

okay. not that there are no hospitals close but from what I noticed, they don't administer malaria drugs in this country...the country is malaria free from what I read. wanted to order the drug from Nigeria but since you said it's at risk, I will leave it... I am not seriously down. Thanks.
    Dr. Idris Q answered:
Okay then. If you are not seriously down. You can use only paracetamol for now which will take care of the fever. ACT is safe in the 2nd trimester and beyond. You should however present to a hospital as soon as the symptoms worsens. Take care
