There is some bleeding in the process of delivery which could be from the shearing of the plancenta from the uterus and this progressively reduces as the uterus goes back to a smaller size. Some mild bleeds can be seen from mild tears from the vaginal opening too which will be repaired by a good skilled birth attendant. Abnormal causes could be seen although not common and should not be a cause of concern if delivery is in a qualified hospital.Lochia is a normal bleed.
