Good afternoon sir, The solution to Hepatitis B infection is to seek the care of a specialist. A gastroenterologist is the Doctor Who specializes in the care of those with hepatitis. Also note that this condition can be treated with drugs but before treatment is commenced, there still some more investigations that need to be done e. g Liver scan, liver function test, viral load HbEag and so on. Your Doctor will request for these investigations before commencing treatment. Yes, it can be transferred from mother her child usually at birth. This is one of the goals early registration for antenatal care stands to achieve. Once her status is known, plans will be put in place to prevent mother to child transmission at birth. The child will also be immunized against hepatitis after birth. Hope this is clear?

thanks, but the vaccine for unborn child for HBV is how much currently?
    Dr. Idris Q answered:

The vaccination of children has been subsidised by the federal government under the National programme on immunization. If your wife registered at a government hospital for her ANC, your baby will be given the vaccine at a subsidised rate at birth, 6weeks and 14 weeks old.

thanks sir, please if the drugs eventually given to her for how long she will stop it? or she will continue to take it?

That's a good question. It is not a drug. It's a vaccine. It will be given as an injection to the baby at each visit and that will be all. It's not something the baby will be taking everyday. Is it clear now?

Your question is not clear but I will attempt it. The father too needs to be tested first. If he is negative, he needs to be vaccinated against hepatitis B infection. If he is infected with the virus, he will also need to see a gastroenterologist and do as I've said earlier. The same goes for every member of the family except the unborn child. You can ask again in clearer terms if this is not what you meant. Take care

both father and mother are positive , so what they can do ,if they did all test except the virus load because of money are they safe?
    Dr. Idris Q answered:

The viral load is very important to know if they will be commenced on anti-viral therapy or not. You can't be sure if they are safe unless you know the amount of the virus they are harbouring in their body. It is also not all that tested positive for hepatitis that will be placed on drugs. There are questions that need to be answered - how infective is the virus, how massive is the viral load and what is the state of the liver? For anyone to answer these questions, he/she has to carryout the investigations I've mentioned earlier. Without that, it will be very difficult to say if they are safe or not. So it's important you do it.

I don't understand what you mean by a private part blocking or coming back to normal after 7 seconds. Can you be more explicit? Tell me what happened exactly, in simple terms.
