Question Asked:

"Hi Doc...Pls i had unprotected sex with a close friend (my first time sex), and became paranoid that i may have contracted an STD (particular fear was for HIV- i really dont know why), Two weeks later i went for tests in a lab. My blood was taken and examined but nothing was found. On the 12th week exactly (not a day extra) i went for another test (Heard it's called a rapid test). My finger was pricked, my blood was taken, a chemical was poored on my blood on a paper looking strip, and in less than 7mins the lab woman said i was negative (this was quicker than the first test). I'd like to know if i have nothing more to fear (apparently im still paranoid, even as i type this). I also want to know if i can trust the second test. (Mehn! it was easy, and quick)...THANK YOU ps. I also have had this burning sensation down there (since the sex) , but the diagnosis still picks nothing on that. Read about something they call thrush. Can it be?"

HI...SINCE YOU HAVE DONE A TEST AFTER 3 MONTHS,IT'S very UNLIKELY YOU ARE POSITIVE...IS THE LADY IN QUESTUON POSITIVE??repeat it in another 3 months if you are stikk worried. The burning sensation, have you any discharge, any frequent urination..you may want to have the urethral swab test repeated in another lab just to be sure Candidiasis is not typically sexualky transmitted but if your urehrale swab or urine mcs is picking something up.you may trest
