to be very honest Doc. most times its triggered by thoughts of inferiority especially when I realise I never been in a relationship and all. bit i have numerous mood swings. I didn't lose a family member. i also look at the future with fear even though I believe in my ideas. suicidal thoughts rush through my mind like once in 3 months. but when I'm happy, I'm very happy, till someone jokes about my sleeping pattern or relationship status and I just wish to die. I'm very good in academics and this gives me some confidence. but I'm easily thrown into long periods of sadness.. also I rarely concentrate. I have started like 5 different gym plans in d past 2 years without completion.. and it's so with many other endeavours

hello,I salute your courage. At 21,you are in final year and as well studying a very good course.that's an achievement on its own. Now,never think about suicide no more.its for cowards.Am sure you are brave. The fact that you are yet to be in a relationship is not a yardstick for measuring success. Of course it is vain since you are still studying. What you need to do now is boost your confidence.Academic brilliance is a sure way for undergraduates, glad you have that already.Dress well, even if you have minimal wears, ensure they are well tailored and well kept, this will help in boosting your self esteem a lot.Hang out often but don't neglect the last phase of your undergraduate. Never look at anyone as better than you.you have the potential to surpass anyone if you believe in yourself.About the ladies, why not achieve first and see how they flock around you?then you can settle with one that suits you well. Then you can look back and be glad you were a way from such distractions when you were in school.Do you have a favourite lecturer?someone who can listen to you?you can speak to such a person.Am sure he or she will have more to encourage you.Your Dad or mom can also be of great help in motivating you.I have seen guys like you who ended up with great great self esteem eventually after focusing on building themselves while at school. You can be what you wish to be if you are focused.

wow. I don't know how to say this.. but thank you Doctor Femi. I didn't expect this much encouragement from here. I fixed an appointment with a professor of clinical Pharmacy on the issue. I would get back to him. However do you think Metformin or any sleep cycle regulators can help me manage the sleep? because I try eating dinner early and sleeping early, yet no much improvement. I had enuresis too as a younger chap till the age of 18 because of deep sleep, though it is history now, I need to know if there are loopholes in my efforts to manage sleep. Remain blessed Doctor.

you sound better.that's encouraging.metformin is a drug for diabetes.its an insulin secretagogue.if you use it,it can tilt you into hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).you can manage the excessive sleep this way;avoid staying alone, that way you will sleep less.Go to night classes to read ,that way,you will stay up more and when you get sleepy, stroll or gist with people to allow the sleep to pass then you continue to study.think about putting in a last strong effort into your academics;if you are almost into first class, strive to make it in.if you are almost into 2-1,strive to be there.if you are settled for a likely graduation grade, ensure you do not drop.do not take drugs to keep you awake. They have harmful side effects .

thanks a lot. I actually meant to type melatonin. however, I'm really grateful Doc. you've been a brother. I would make more concrete plans on how to effectively manage this. thanks and have a splendid weekend
    Dr. Femi O answered:

its good you are motivated.melatonin supplement is used to treat insomnia(poor sleep).it is a natural hormone produced by the body during sleep .Am sure you have enough of it already since you do sleep.Don't bother using that to avoid undesired side effects.wishing you a good weekend. And I will like to see you at the top in the nearest future.
