Hello, The virus has been found to secreted in breast milk. There are a lot of explanations on the reason why this virus might not be present in breast milk some of which are still subject to debate. If the viral load of the mother is low(the number of HIV virus in her system), it might not be secreted in the breast milk. We however don't rely on this while managing HIV positive mothers and her child. We still take steps at protecting the child. Hope this helps? take care
