thank you for the additional information. the symptom you describe could be as a result of an inflammation between where your ribs join the breastbone, called costochondritis. commonest cause it a blow to the chest, recent physical strain or joint infection. does it hurt when you breathe or feel painful when you touch the area? these are associated symptoms of this condition. you can get over the counter NSAIDs for this. it might also be just response to cold, but if you have fever and this pain comes on breathing or coughing, you might have pneumonia. the exact cause will be clear on physical examination and xray by a doctor. but you can try and NSAIDs first, if no improvement then see your doctor.
