Question Asked:

"Good day. I am a 32 year old male.. I've been battling ED for a while now... I saw a urologist recently who prescribed cialis and anafranil but that didn't work. I'm beginning to think my problem is psychological as most times I'm in the mood but I go flaccid once I'm about to begin or in the middle of the act. I'm in desperate straits at the moment because my relationship with my prospective wife is in grave danger due to this. Any help I can get here will be appreciated. I've tried viagra and it doesn't work."

Hello sir. Sorry about how you feel. You may need to try using relaxation techniques to improve the erectile dysfunction. Try not to be anxious and do not expect too much from yourself. Relax and enjoy the foreplay, this should put you in the proper mood and help improve. You should also reduce stressors and make a note of what might be disturbing you while trying to resolve or talk about the issues with someone close to you. All the best.

Thanks for the response. However can your recommend drugs that can aid the process. Honestly I've run out of patience with myself. Like I mentioned earlier.. I've tried the usual enhancers and they don't work. I'm beginning to think I need some sort of stimulant.

Hello sir. Since you have tried stimulants like viagra and others, I will advise you relax. Erectile dysfunction is a common problem among men and most resolve with time. Have yoy been on medications for other reasons recently, are you diabetic or have any other health issues. Smoking and alcohol intake can be add to this too. You should try relaxation techniques, if these do not help you might need to see a Doctor. Cheers

Thanks for the response. I don't smoke and drink. The only weaknesses I can think of is my love for chocolates and soft drinks. I have tried to tone these down. Also I used to watch porn.. And I started thinking my problem was porn induced. I've equally put a stop to it. I've checked my blood sugar level. It is very OK. I did a testosterone blood test recently and i still await the results. You've mentioned relaxation techniques but havent given me one to practice. Any tip will be helpful.

Hello sir. Porn has been linked to poor performances too. Some of the events in them are not realistic while we try to want to experiment with the process and experience the same feelings we miss out on enjoying the process. You can try taking your mind off the act before engaging in it. Do not put a lot of pressure on yourself to perform in a particular way and try to enjoy the moment. Being with a partner too can help and communicating about expectations can also help in satisfying each other. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks. Your replies have been very helpful. One last question. What contributory effect does masturbation have to ED?

Masturbation and porn can be harmful as it inhibits the indidvidual from enjoying sexual relations with his or her partner. Such person will have too high expectations and unrealistic fantasies which can amount to frustrations and an unsatisfying experience especially when they eventually get married or have a partner.
