hello, good to have you back here.its nice that you have gone to hospital for proper diagnosis.if the doctor said its HPV(human papilloma virus) infection, and u truly have it,its likely that what u cut off was a wart. The virus is sexually transmitted, its commoner in females, when HPV affect females,it known to cause cervical cancer. In males,it causes genital warts.they appear as projections from the skin.it can be treated by applying certain creams on the skin at home such as podophyllin.instruction on how to use it must be carefully followed because it can burn the skin while applying on the warts. You can as well let a health personnel apply for u.Vaseline can be rubbed on the normal skin to protect it from the chemical.Warts can also be surgically removed and it can also be freezed off.Talk to your doctor and let him determine the most appropriate approach for yours. There is a high tendency of recurrence too.Avoid multiple sex partners, let your partner go for pap smear(a screening test for cervical cancer) due to the high risk of transmission sexually.good luck.
