Good evening. Early in your menstrual cycle, eggs (ova) start to develop. After some days one of them bcom dominant and matured to be released (ovulated) around the middle of your cycle. If you have sexual intercourse around that time, you may get pregnant from fertilisation by a sperm cell. Cheers

Thanks doctor. Is it possible for someone to be pregnant without ovulating? How does one know she is ovulating?

No, it's not possible to be pregnant without ovulation. it's the ovulation that makes the egg available to be fertilised by a sperm cell. Knowing when is ovulating comes with experience and knowledge of one's cycle pattern. Roughly speaking, around the mid cycle, some women feel some lower abdominal discomforts, either sides of the abdomen. There may be changes in the vaginal discharge as well.
