good day madam . Essentially pneumonia is a chest infection . symptoms are cough(dry or productive of sputum), chest pain, difficulty breathing and fever. ...Others are malaise, body pains etc...The first four are the cardinal features of pneumonia....Basically breathing in the infective organsm(bacteria, viruses and fungi) is the main cause...atimes blood born infections can also get into the chest as in the case of staphylococcus aureus(hospital acquired too), also being admitted in the hospital can give one hospital acquired pneumonia. not smoking is a good way to prevent it, having hiv aids can predispose one to it too...All the best madam.
