"my periods are three days late,I have a six month old baby that am still breastfeeding but not exclusively. I have had unprotected sex twice this month but used emergency pills on both occasions. could I be pregnant?"

    Hello madam.Good morning. Without it being pregnancy your period can be delayed by other things for example the contraception you used though typically postinor makes periods come earlier.Infections, anxiety and stress too may contribute to this.You breast feeding too may. However your best bet is to do a blood pregnancy test since its delayed.There is a high possibility of pregnancy as postinors main mode of action is to prevent ovulation hence it can fail and is not a 100% in preventing pregnancy. Iv seen people get pregnant 4 months after delivery. So please put your mind at rest and do a PT. It may just not be pregnancy. Since you are not doing exclusive breast feeding.You may want to avail yourself of some contraception that is longer lasting and safe in breast feeding.Discuss this with your family planning clinic once you have safely ruled out pregnancy.
